云鑼屬于金屬體鳴樂器族內的變音打擊樂器類。用若干個小鑼編排而成,裝置在小木架上。各個鑼的大小、厚薄不同,所以發出的聲音不同。
云鑼既可演奏旋律，也可為樂曲作各種節奏型伴奏，音色清澈、圓潤、悅耳、余音持久。
